These opportunities represent meaningful, real-world experiences that connect high school to clear next steps, ensuring students leave with both direction and momentum toward their future.
How We Work Together
HTC is a working coalition designed to move from shared vision to coordinated action.
Rather than operating through a single workstream, HTC organizes its efforts through a constellation of Collaboration Tables. Each table focuses on a critical component of the system, while remaining deeply connected to the others.
This structure allows partners to bring their expertise where it matters most while staying aligned to a shared vision and common set of priorities. Our collaboration model also creates structured spaces for partners to align efforts, surface challenges, and advance solutions.
This is not new work, but a new way of working together.
Each Collaboration Table plays a distinct role:
Data Table
Focused on improving how data is defined, measured, and used so that progress toward the Big Three is clear, transparent, and actionable
Pathways Table
Focused on strengthening the conditions and supports needed for districts to design and implement high-quality college- and career-connected pathways
Policy Table
Focused on aligning policy with implementation, ensuring that state policies enable, rather than complicate, access to meaningful student opportunities
Collaboration Model
These tables are where the coalition’s work is shaped and advanced, bringing together diverse perspectives to build shared approaches that can scale statewide.
The Center Table brings the work together to connect the dots between the Collaboration Tables and also brings a broader set of partners together for shared learning, updates, and connection across the ecosystem.
Our Origin
Over the past two decades, Colorado has built strong momentum in expanding college and career pathways driven by educators, policymakers, and partners across the state.
Since 2019, the Colorado Education Initiative and Colorado Succeeds have helped accelerate this work through the Homegrown Talent Initiative, partnering with communities to design and implement high-quality pathways while weaving in policy leadership that shaped conditions for success. At the same time, organizations across Colorado have been advancing similar efforts, expanding access to meaningful opportunities for students in different ways and in different regions.
The Homegrown Talent Coalition was launched to bring these efforts into closer alignment, creating a more intentional way of working together to reduce fragmentation, strengthen systems, and ensure every student can access meaningful opportunities statewide.
